Danny Ocean (George Clooney) recruits a team of underground professional con men to rob three casinos in Las Vegas, but is Danny motivated by the money or is he trying to reunite with his ex-wife Tess (Julia Roberts)? This is the big budget Hollywood remake of the 1960s Ocean’s Eleven and it oozes cool out of every immaculately crafted scene. The A-list cast is a pleasure to watch, as is the beautiful cinematography with its long tracks that traverse the opulent sets. Steven Soderbergh shows and hides information from the audience so well, it’s annoying, he and his team have done all of the thinking leaving little to stimulate the viewer’s brains but that isn't to say Oceans Eleven is completely without depth; there are many references to our media fixated contemporary society and the plot has a few interesting twists. Ocean’s Eleven won’t sit in your mind long after you watch it but sometimes pure entertainment is a wonderful thing.
