Summary

Platoon is based on writer/director Oliver Stones real life Vietnam War experiences and is said to be a very realistic account of what american soldiers went through during the war. The main theme is the loss of innocence which is illustrated through lead protagonist, Charlie Sheens character Private Chris Taylor. The acting in this film is outstanding and the film making creates an uneasy sense of being there with its close and handheld camera shots. Platoon is an outstanding film delivering a strong anti-war message in an entertaining and exciting context.
