Takeshi Miike is most famous for his excessive films that include Ichi The Killer and Audition (Which are highly recommended if you can stomach extreme violence) He is also famous for an excessive work ethic, having directed over 50 films since 1991. The Bird People In China is a surprising shift from the films Miike is famous for, the violence is minimal and the story is beautiful and spiritual. It has its faults such as a really bad CGI scene of turtles pulling a raft and a terrible halucination scene but still manages to be completely intriguing and rewarding. See this film!!
